Review: We went to this restaurant on a Sunday night, September 24th, 2011, around 7:30P.M, as we had a restaurant.com coupon of US$ 25.00 for which we had paid US$ 4.00 (an excellent deal). Surprisingly there was no waiting time to be seated. We were in a party of four (me, my wife and our two daughters) and after being directed to a comfortable booth/table at the left side of the restaurant, we start studying the selections available in the menu. It took us about five minutes to decide, as there were so many options. While we were selecting, the waitress brought to our table fresh water.
We ordered "Edamame" (Boiled soy beans, lightly salted) for appetizer. For the main course order, I asked for the "Hibachi Chicken" (stir fried chicken with fresh vegetables and a Japanese special sauce) and my wife and daughters each ordered the "Hibachi Beef" (similar to mine, but with beef instead of chicken). Those dishes were suppose to come with either a Miso soup or a Salad. Me and my wife decided for the salad, my two daughters for the soup. We all ordered soft drinks.
The appetizer came immediately, followed in a very short time by the soups and salads. My daughters loved the appetizer but were not very impressed by the soup. Salad was OK, but my wife had to ask for extra dressing.
In about fifteen minutes the selected dishes were served in large plates, not extremely hot. My wife thought about sending her plate back for warming up, as she likes hot food, but she gave up on the idea. I was expecting that the hibachi would be done like in many other Japanese restaurants, with the food being prepared in front of us, with all the show from the chef, so I was a little disappointed when my plate came fully prepared (and also a little cold). My chicken was very dry. Vegetables were good. The beef from my wife plate was good (I stole one piece from her). The dishes were individual servings, not enough to share.
We did not order desert or coffee.
Overall, this was a reasonable dinner, enjoyable environment, honest service and decent food at medium to high price. The cost for this meal, including tax and tip was US$ 28.60 per person. They honored the restaurant.com coupon we had, minimizing the final cost.
